Getting to know Heather Petersen

Hello there, I'm Heather. Are you experiencing anxiety, depression, or difficulty adjusting to life transitions? Do you find things overwhelming and harder to cope with because of the many stressors in life? Do you worry too much, feel not good enough, or feel stuck? Do you feel alone, like no one really listens, understands, or relates to what you are going through? Look no further-I specialize in alleviating anxiety, managing and overcoming depression, and adjusting to life transitions such as parenting, relationship challenges, empty nest syndrome, health issues, job loss, divorce, death of a loved one, or retirement. These challenges are common, but when they start to take over your life, it's time to get the support you need by working with a counselor so you can live a more fulfilling life. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in North Carolina, licensed to see clients virtually in North Carolina and California. I received my Master's from San Diego State University and have been practicing clinical social work for 21 years. I enjoy working with individual adults navigating life's stressors, and together we will work to get you unstuck as soon as possible so you can live a better life on your own terms. You are brave and have already made an important step in the change process just by being here.

Satisfied with my therapist!
My experience has been great! We connected right away and she has been so open minded, helpful and empowering. Our session have already helped me so much! I couldn't recommend her enough.
She is very compassionate.
Heather is doing exactly what I need from her. She is an excellent listener. She offers solutions when I ask. I would definitely recommend her.
She understands my needs and makes me laugh even when im on the verge of tears. She listens but also has great feedback and advice
Have really enjoyed my sessions with Heather so far. Even on days where I dread showing up for myself, I leave the session feeling much better. She is so easy to talk to and is has honest/direct communication with me. She has taken the time to learn names and remember information from each session which is something I haven't had before and makes sessions easier for me. I also like her homework tasks that are both doable and challenging.
