Getting to know Heidi Dryer

?It is better to travel well than to arrive.? - Buddha My name is Heidi Dryer. I obtained my license as a Marriage and Family Therapist in 2015, though I have been practicing since 2012. I earned my Master's in Counseling Psychology from Argosy University, California, and I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. I have extensive experience working with individuals from all walks of life. The most important aspect of therapy is the therapeutic relationship. I understand the importance of having an empathic ear, especially now that we find ourselves with the illusion of being ?connected? with one another, only to feel more disconnected than ever. We are not born good listeners; listening is an acquired skill. It is difficult to find someone, even in the professional world of therapy, who truly listens and genuinely tries to understand another person's world. That is why I strive to be fully present with every single person I meet in the therapy room. I believe in providing holistic treatment, working under the premise that all individuals have the innate ability to solve their problems, although sometimes a guiding hand is necessary to lead one down the right path toward a healthy and happy life. At one point, I worked as a flight attendant, so I often use that metaphor to describe my philosophy: all human beings are travelers on this journey called life. Sometimes, as travelers, we either don't pack enough or carry too much luggage. Symbolically, this luggage accumulates little by little throughout our lives from the moment we are born. We carry good things in our luggage, but sometimes there are too many unnecessary things weighing us down. If we don't make an effort to take inventory of these items, our journey becomes unpleasant. We recognize this when we feel stuck-unhappy, anxious, depressed, hopeless, and helpless. Sometimes it's difficult to break free from that loop, and this is when therapy can be very helpful.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I believe that therapy is a collaborative journey. I am deeply invested in providing support and guidance, one person at a time, in a supportive environment free of judgment and criticism. It is important to explore the past to change the present so we can have a better future. This process of working with me is for those who are not afraid of exploring their past and are ready to embrace all the exciting possibilities that come from that. I holistically approach treatment. I also believe in providing individualized solutions and treatment based on your strengths and potential for growth so I am deeply invested in getting to you better so I can better guide you.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

I look forward to my sessions with Heidi, she's great at listening and providing genuine and thoughtful feedback.
Working with Heidi the last 2.5 years on a regular basis (ranging from daily to weekly to monthly) has changed my life in a positive way. I came tumbling out of a domestic violence situation and worked with Heidi through Talkspace and followed her to her private practice. The longevity and consistency of working with Heidi has led to my continual growth and development and I feel like I have grown into such an authentic, amazing, confident and more knowledgeable individual based on her help. Heidi has changed my life for the positive through her interactions with me, anecdotes, helpfulness, and insight. I’m eternally grateful for Heidi and the interactions I have had with her!!
