Getting to know Heidi Favia
I use the techniques I have learned and developed as a therapist, along with my life experiences, to create a compassionate, empathetic, and non-judgmental environment for clients. My calm and warm demeanor allows me to build trusting, open, and honest relationships. I enjoy working collaboratively to instill empowerment, recognize unique needs, and treat the client as a whole person. I guide clients to recognize that they are the experts in their own experiences. I use client-centered and strength-based approaches, as well as CBT, DBT, ACT, and family systems techniques to address disordered eating and body image issues, anxiety, trauma, depression, and relationship difficulties. It is truly inspiring to see clients enter therapy and leave with a new perspective on their lives. My primary focus is instilling hope and motivation so clients believe that recovery is both obtainable and sustainable.
I earned a double major in psychology and education during my undergraduate studies. I received my master's degree in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in Los Angeles, graduating with honors on the Dean's List. I am currently working toward my PsyD and Certification as an Eating Disorder Specialist.
Over my 8-year journey, I have served as Program Director of a Residential Treatment Center, treating adult women and men with eating disorders, chemical dependency, and mental health challenges. I also have experience working with eating disorders at the partial and outpatient levels, treating both adult and adolescent men and women. I am passionate about supporting clients struggling with eating disorders and chemical dependency. Additionally, I have worked with women, men, and adolescents facing eating disorders, chemical dependency, trauma, depression, anxiety, and OCD.
