Helen Manning, LMHC

Psychotherapist
FL
I hear from clients that therapy 'intimidates' them. I strive to get rid of that myth by offering a warm and safe environment, where my clients receive unconditional positive regard. This happens through the wonder of active listening, humor, and my own life experience that often surprises clients, as I often get a 'You too? " My approach My counseling commitment is to join you in a partnership where together we can discover ways to learn methods to reach a happier and healthier lifestyle. I work with many populations and have had much success with PTSD, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorders, pre-marital and couples counseling. I welcome LGBTQ, transgender, and gender dysphoria clients. We all need understanding. We need to be heard. I strive to see my patients through their eyes, learn their world views, and practice active listening. I want to 'wear the shoes' of my patient I am treating. I try to uncover the causes of your suffering, but your efforts are crucial. My focus I use the expression 'wear the shoes of my patient" because I have a background as a professional actor - I went to JU for Theatre Arts and then to London for a year of training. With each client I have, I ask permission to enter their worldview. Thus, I learn the world through your eyes, and you give me vital information about your yearnings and where you might be holding on to things that no longer serve. I am an interactive therapist. I do not just sit and stare, and when the session is over, ask how you feel! It's surprising how often I've heard this!! My communication style I hear from clients that therapy 'intimidates' them. I strive to get rid of that myth, offering a warm and safe environment, where my clients receive unconditional positive regard through active listening, humor, and my own life experience that often surprises clients, as I often get a 'You too? " Therapy is a mutual commitment.
