Psychotherapist
NY
I want therapy to be a place where you can finally slow down and be heard. And I want it to go somewhere. Most people who come to me are not just looking to hear that what they feel is normal. They want to understand why it keeps happening and what will change it. Whether you are dealing with anxiety, low mood, self-doubt, stress at work, a relationship that keeps hitting the same wall, or something you cannot quite name yet, my job is to find what is keeping it stuck and help you move forward. I often draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and person-centered therapy. But I choose the approach, including ones not listed here, based on what you come in with. Racing, negative thoughts may call for practical skills to challenge and reshape them. Fighting your own feelings may call for learning to make room for them while you move toward what matters. Sometimes the first thing that helps is simply being heard. You get what fits you, not a one-size-fits-all method. My work is collaborative and structured. You help shape the plan, you always know what comes next, and we check progress along the way. If something is not working, we change it. I am direct, and I will tell you honestly what I see. I am a psychotherapist with a master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from SUNY Plattsburgh. I work with adults facing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, life transitions, burnout, relationship struggles, and stress that has started to take over. You do not need to have it all figured out before you reach out. Pick a time that works, and we will start there.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Starting therapy takes courage, and it helps to know what to expect. Here is how it works with me. Our first sessions are about getting to know you. We talk about what brought you in, what is happening now, and what you want to feel different. We also look at sleep, stress, and your day-to-day life, because they shape what will actually help. You do not need to have the right words. We will find them together. From there, we look for the pattern. What sets things off, how you tend to respond, and what keeps the cycle going. The goal is to understand why it keeps happening, so it starts to make sense instead of feeling random. Then we build a plan together. You help set the goals in plain words, like less worry, a steadier mood, more confidence, or handling stress without shutting down. It is your plan, and you will always know what we are working on and why. I choose the method to fit you, not the other way around. Sometimes that means practical skills to change how you think and respond. Sometimes it means learning to stop fighting your own feelings. Sometimes the first step is simply being heard. The approach grows and changes as you do. Along the way, you complete short check-ins and we look at the results together. That way you can see your progress, not just hope for it. If something is not moving, I will say so kindly and honestly, and we will adjust. Between sessions, you try what we work on in your real life. Then we talk about what happened and build on it, so every week adds up. My hope is that you leave understanding yourself better, trusting yourself more, and feeling ready for whatever comes next.
