“I really appreciate the approach that Herb Church takes during therapy sessions. I had never been to therapy before but so far I have nothing bad to say about my sessions and I would absolutely recommend him to any of my friends. I was somewhat anxious about meeting with a therapist to begin with but I have been extremely pleased with the service I have been provided with.”

Getting to know Herb Church

Things have started falling apart around you. You're worried about losing a relationship, your job, or worse. People close to you have started to mention they are worried about you. A part of you wants to change, but you're stuck between unbearable emotions and trying to keep everything under control. And it's not working out. You may be lashing out, drinking more, or avoiding people close to you. Whether you are dealing with depression, anxiety, anger, shame from the past, or out-of-control substance use, you don't have to stay where you are-suffering. You're resilient and persistent, and right now, you're just stuck. I help people recover from being stuck in anxiety, depression, trauma, and the shame that comes with out-of-control substance use. I can help you figure out how to get back on track by teaching you the tools you'll need to manage your feelings and problems and how to recover your relationships. No one needs to go through what you are feeling alone. If you are ready for a new strategy and to try something different, I can help. The biggest result I could give you is to help you remove barriers that prevent you from achieving your goals. I do this with DBT, Brainspotting, and other therapy techniques. I hold a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Mercer University, which has equipped me with the knowledge and skills to support you effectively. Take the first step and schedule an appointment online.

What should a new client know about working with you?

After our initial session we will create a treatment plan and strategize how to best move forward. From there we will work towards executing our plan and taking on barriers as they come. Whether we are working on past traumas, processing recent stressors or learning new skills to cope with life our ultimate plan is for you to achieve your goals.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

Herb you rock
I really appreciate the approach that Herb Church takes during therapy sessions. I had never been to therapy before but so far I have nothing bad to say about my sessions and I would absolutely recommend him to any of my friends. I was somewhat anxious about meeting with a therapist to begin with but I have been extremely pleased with the service I have been provided with.
Herb is great.
I really enjoy the structure of our sessions. We begin with processing anything I'd like to discuss via talk therapy, and then we spend the second half of our session doing skill training for DBT and CBT. I feel like it's the perfect blend of processing, empathy, and making steps for growth.
I have learned and grown more in the time I’ve spent with Herb than I did in the prior ten years of on/off counseling and treatment centers. He’s extremely informed and knowledgeable in DBT therapy. He offers great solutions and insight and has always listened to me when I’ve told him what works for me and what doesn’t. Prior counselors would just push on me what works for most people. But everyone is different and he’s given me suggestions that work for me and my situation. Extremely grateful to have him as my counselor!!
He enabled me to change my life.
