Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Hilary! Asking for support is one of the most challenging steps in the recovery process. We often seek therapy in search of relief when our old ways of navigating stressors no longer serve us. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), I provide individual therapy to adults in the state of California via telehealth. I specialize in addressing symptoms of anxiety, depression, unresolved trauma, and mood instability and work with clients to improve functioning in daily life. My approach My approach is individualized and eclectic, taking into account client needs and preferences. I draw from multiple modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and person-centered therapy. I view a client’s sense of safety and ability to feel seen and understood as paramount in our work together in order to achieve meaningful and lasting change. I utilize a strengths-based and trauma-informed approach to support clients in understanding their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in order to promote healing. My focus I have an extensive background working with adults in mental health and dual-diagnosis treatment settings. I specialize in concerns of anxiety, depression, trauma, and mood instability. Using a balance of skill-building and processing, I support individuals in addressing areas such as emotion regulation, distress tolerance, communication skills, connection, resiliency, and self-worth. I am an LGBTQIA2S+ ally and have lived experience that allows me to relate to and uniquely support BIPOC individuals and those with immigrant parents. My therapy practice is also 12-step/substance recovery aligned for those seeking to maintain sobriety. My communication style My communication is calm, direct, and personable to create a curious, non-judgmental space. In our sessions, you can expect a balance between validation of emotional experiences and gentle challenging of self-limiting beliefs and behaviors.
