I feel like I’ve never been able to really focus on certain things before in my past therapy experience and since I’ve met Holly, that’s changed. I’ve learned so much about myself with the support from her. She’s so easy to talk to and never judges you for anything. I always look forward to my sessions with her every week. Getting to know Holly Bahnick
Holly Bahnick is a licensed mental health counselor working with adults of all ages on an individual basis. Holly received their undergraduate degree in Public Health from Central Washington University. After taking time away from school to work and volunteer, Holly returned to earn a Master's degree in Community Counseling from Seattle University. Holly spent the next five years providing therapy to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) who had co-occurring mental health diagnoses.
For the following 1.5 years, Holly shifted focus to providing short-term therapy to seniors and adults who qualified for Medicare due to disability at a primary care clinic. Holly's clinical interests include neurodivergence (Autism, ADHD, IDD), trauma (including domestic violence, victims of violent crimes, and systemic trauma), anxiety, depression, chronic illness, and LGBTQIA+ issues. Holly believes each client is the expert on themselves, and a counselor's role is to offer honesty, support, reflection, and a space to explore life's challenges while providing skills clients can use in their daily lives.
Holly utilizes an integrated approach tailored to each client's needs, drawing from techniques such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Holly has a deep love for animals, nature, and meaningful connections. When not providing therapeutic services, you can find them curled up reading a book, spending time with friends and pets, or enjoying adventures like camping, backpacking, or rock climbing.
Please be advised that Holly uses a service dog who will be present during therapy sessions. If you are interested in scheduling with Holly but are unable or unwilling to be around animals, please inquire about telehealth booking options.
