Getting to know Howard Weightman

Hi there, I'm Howard! My name is Howard Weightman III, LMHC MH21609. I am a person-centered therapist who focuses on Depression, Anxiety, and PTSD in men and women. I specialize in trauma and abuse from work-related acute stress and PTSD, child abuse, physical and sexual assault, addiction aftercare, and supporting family members living with a person in recovery from addiction. My approach I use individual psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Brainspotting trauma-focused therapy to help my clients identify the triggers of their emotional worries and develop healthy ways to process and cope with those emotions for an improved personal and professional life. My focus I prefer to work with men and women between the ages of 12 and 65 who are dealing with Depression, Anxiety, and PTSD from work or family-related trauma. I also take clients seeking aftercare from substance recovery programs and family members who have a loved one dealing with substance recovery and the trauma that comes with living with a family member in addiction. My communication style I like to say that I have two eyes to watch you with, two ears to listen to you with, and one mouth. When I do speak, I want it to be in the form of a question so that you can figure out what works best for you in your life. The goal is for you to answer the "why" questions in your life so you can find joy in your personal and professional lives. My journey to mental healthcare I served in the United States Navy for 14 years. I realized my greatest success and passion was to help young men and women improve their lives. After my service, I attended Jacksonville University, where I earned my Master’s in Counseling. This education helped me grow so I can be there for men and women dealing with horrible life events, standing strong with them to help them get through trauma and excel because of it, not break under it.
