Hunter Cook, LPC

Psychotherapist
TN
Hi there, I'm Hunter! I am an LPC/MHSP in Tennessee and Virginia. I specialize in therapy for anxious, perfectionistic, people-pleasing adults who feel "never enough." Clients come to me looking for a therapist who can offer empathy and support while also providing healthy challenges through proven techniques. My approach I am a certified EMDR therapist and have training in ACT, CBT, and The Gottman Method for couples counseling. While I specialize in these types of therapy, I believe in finding "what's right" for each person, not just a cookie-cutter approach to move you toward feeling less stressed, more fulfilled. My focus It can be exhausting trying to appear successful and "put together" when inside you're feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, perfectionism, burnout, the urge to constantly people-please, and that nagging 'never enough' feeling. If you're yearning to feel less burned out, angry, disconnected, and to understand yourself better, I'm here to support you. Together, we can explore these challenges and move towards a life where you experience less stress, deeper connection, and more presence. Let's find that relief from the pressures of perfectionism, burnout, and the need to please everyone and get you back to living your life the way you want. My communication style I bring my authentic self to sessions. I'm pretty much the same person in session that I would be if you saw me in public. I'm professional, but there is no fear about laughing and making some healthy jokes in the session. My journey to mental healthcare I originally went into college to study medicine, but I quickly learned that Chemistry and Physics weren't my friend. I found myself fascinated with my intro to psych course. This led me to change to psychology, which has led me where I am now. I'm passionate about seeing growth and positive, forward movement in others' lives. I want to see people be able to thrive, not just get by with coping.
