Isabel Nappa, LCSW

Isabel Nappa, LCSW

Psychotherapist
NJ
Hi! I’m Isabel, a LGBTQIA+ therapist and Licensed Clinical Social Worker who believes in the power of compassionate, collaborative healing. I’ve been in therapy myself since high school, which first inspired me to become a social worker. That experience sparked a lifelong passion for expanding access to mental health care and supporting others on their paths toward healing. I specialize in working with young adults, couples, and LGBTQIA+ clients, and my practice is rooted in a trauma-informed, strengths-based perspective. I believe healing isn’t about “fixing” what's broken—it’s about reconnecting with the parts of ourselves that already hold resilience, clarity, and worth. I'm also a big believer in creative expression as a coping tool—whether it’s playing guitar, singing, watching a great film, or belting out a Broadway tune. I often bring mindfulness into my work as a way to slow down, get present, and build a deeper connection to yourself.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I take a thoughtful, respectful approach to therapy, grounded in real curiosity about your story and what’s helped you get through hard things. I use evidence-based practices like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and the Gottman Method for couples to help you feel more grounded and supported. We'll look at how your past experiences and relationships have shaped how you move through the world now, while also recognizing the strength and resilience you already have. Whether you're working through stress, identity questions, relationship challenges, or just trying to understand yourself better, I aim to create a space that feels safe, collaborative, and affirming.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I believe that you are the expert of your own life—and that therapy works best when it honors your voice, your insight, and your pace. Therapy with me is a collaborative process rooted in curiosity and compassion. I’ll support you in making sense of your story, reconnecting with your values, and building new ways of relating to yourself and others that feel more aligned and empowering. Clients often leave sessions feeling more grounded, self-aware, and empowered to make intentional life choices. I aim to build an environment that feels warm, nonjudgmental, and deeply respectful of your process, because lasting change comes from within, not from being told what to do.
