Psychotherapist
MD
I'm here as a supportive therapist to help you work towards meeting your own individualized goals through the use of Support, CBT, Mindfulness-based, Solution-Focused, and other various forms of therapeutic styles. My approach I am a very person-centered, supportive therapist meeting you where you at and helping you to meet your own personalized goals in healing. My focus I'm a generalist treating a variety of mental health conditions and various issues throughout the years of my practice but I focus in treating those struggling with depression, anxiety, mood disorders, adjustment issues and trauma/PTSD. My communication style I can be quiet, and listen, a gentle ear, or I can be more engaging, assessing by asking questions and clarification, along with gently challenging thoughts/feelings and behaviors when needed to keep moving forward towards your goals. I am also good at reinforcing progress being made in between sessions. My journey to mental healthcare I knew back in fifth grade I wanted to listen and help others as a mental health therapist and now have been in the field overall 23 years and a licensed therapist since 2008. My goals for you I engage clients in sessions by letting them communicate openly to express their thoughts/feelings and behavioral ways of doing things and listen, reflect, and intervene appropriately to help them gain insight into their own situations to make healthier decisions/coping strategies to implement in their lives. I can be supportive and an active listener, or I can be more engaging by setting small behavioral goals in between sessions and then assessing next session. I'm big on scaling questions and seeing how progress is being made, I am also into focusing on reinforcing positive growth and steps being taken towards goals. My first session with you Our first session is an initial assessment of seeing what presenting issues are of concern and gathering past psychosocial history in getting to know you as a client.
