Hello, my name is Jaime Gaudet. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Art Therapist with a Master's in Art Therapy and Counseling from Eastern Virginia Medical School. I have over 22 years of experience as a counselor and use a Client-Centered approach. I have been described as compassionate, creative, friendly, and easy-going. My approach I use Client-Centered and Positive Psychology methods, incorporating Art Therapy techniques as needed. It is not necessary to be a good artist, and clients do not have to try Art Therapy if they don't want to. Talk therapy is also fine. My focus I typically work with clients who are struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, parenting issues, poor coping skills, and anger management. My communication style It feels welcoming to work with me. I try to create a safe environment for clients to improve their coping skills in a nonjudgmental atmosphere. My journey to mental healthcare I always knew I wanted to be in a helping profession to support people, and my aunt introduced me to pursuing a counseling career. She cancelled, saying she had technical issues. It was supposed to be our first appointment.

Received an email less than 24 hours prior to my intake assessment informing me that my appointment was cancelled with no explanation why. I called the office the office the day of and they had no record of my appointment being being cancelled. After joining the zoom session to inform the therapist of the mishap, she responded with ‘the technology used doesn’t always work correctly’. No other explanation or apology was offered. When gathering my mental health and social history, therapist made the assumption that living in poverty was due to ‘not being able to hold a job’. Regardless of the intention, your job as a clinician is to meet the client where they are and create an empathetic space. Ignorant comments like these do not foster a healthy therapeutic environment. All in all, I would not recommend this particular therapist.
