Jamaal Crone, LPC

Jamaal Crone, LPC

Psychotherapist
DC
I see psychotherapy as an art of the soul and a science of the mind. It’s a space where evidence-based “treatment” meets timeless human wisdom in order to improve our experience of life. My work is grounded in the belief that meaningful change happens when we address our thinking, our emotions, and the deeper questions of identity, purpose, and connection. ?My academic and professional path reflects this integration. After earning a Master of Arts in Religion from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, I completed a Master of Education in Mental Health Counseling at Cambridge College. Nearing the completion of a Ph.D. in Counselor Education & Supervision, I continue to further refining my knowledge and skill in advanced clinical practice, supervision, and counselor training.

What should a new client know about working with you?

In our sessions, I bring together the insights of ancient philosophy, spiritual traditions, and cultural wisdom with modern relationship science and practical therapeutic strategies. This means that while we work on current life dilemmas, such as relationship struggles, life transitions, or patterns of self-doubt, we also explore the narratives, values, and life philosophies that shape who you are and how you connect to others.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

While I welcome clients from all walks of life, I am especially dedicated to working with LGBTQ+ individuals, People of Color, and Black Queer Men who want a therapeutic space that is attuned to the cultural, relational, and spiritual dimensions of their lives. Whether your focus is on personal growth, relational healing, or finding deeper alignment between your inner values and your lived experience, my role is to walk alongside you with compassion, curiosity, and a clear vision for your growth. I have a particular passion for relationship counseling. Using the Gottman Method, I help couples move beyond conflict and disconnection to build trust, intimacy, and emotional safety. Together, we identify patterns, improve communication, and heal the relational wounds that keep love from flourishing.
