James Albert, LPC

Psychotherapist
TX
Hi there, I'm James! My name is James Albert. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) residing in the Dallas Fort Worth area in Texas. I work with clients statewide via telehealth. I support individuals seeking help with anxiety, depression, self-esteem, assertiveness, and other mental health concerns. I use a variety of modalities in my practice, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing, to help my clients achieve their mental health goals. I earned my Master’s in Counseling from Argosy University. My approach My approach to therapy varies based on each client’s needs. I frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. I am open to any modality that helps the client reach their goals. Establishing rapport is key to building trust and creating a safe space where clients can comfortably open up about their concerns. My focus I have found that my approach is a good fit for adults as well as mature teens who may be struggling with faulty thinking, low self-esteem, or assertiveness. Life can be challenging at any age. Like many therapists, I strive to present different ways to view solutions and challenge faulty thought processes. I encourage clients to embrace change to achieve their desired outcomes. My communication style My communication style is calm, empathic, friendly, and inviting. I want my clients to feel safe expressing their concerns and to feel heard without judgment. I decided to become a therapist because I enjoy hearing individuals’ stories and instilling hope. I believe in staying positive. My journey to mental healthcare My time as a correctional officer sparked my curiosity about how individuals come to find themselves in prison. I became fascinated by hearing their stories, which ultimately led me to pursue a career in mental healthcare.
