I am a licensed independent clinical social worker through the state of Minnesota and hold a Master’s in Social Work from Augsburg University. In 2017, I entered a group practice, JLS Consulting, specializing in chemical, mental, and sexual health. Prior to that, I worked as a group therapist at Lighthouse Psychological Services, Inc., a mental health case manager at Minnesota Mental Health Clinics specializing in clients with depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and borderline personality disorder, and as a group and individual therapist specializing in sexual health at Cornerstone Therapy and Recovery Center. I am currently a therapist with Sexual Wellness Institute in Plymouth, MN, and the SAT Project in New York, NY. I have worked closely with and identify with the LGBTQ community as both a practitioner and an advocate. I was also an adjunct faculty member of Augsburg University's Social Work department from 2018 to 2021. I am currently pursuing Emotionally Focused Therapy certification for relational work and researching and developing a book on relational aggression and toxic masculinity in gay men.
What should a new client know about working with you?
I graduated from Augsburg University (formerly Augsburg College) with an MSW degree in 2015 and bring nearly a decade of experience to my practice. My professional passions and areas of specialty include sexuality, relationships, addictions/substance use disorders, and mood disorders/general mental health concerns.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
I use cognitive behavioral, attachment, and psychodynamic models to shape my practice. Work is collaborative and centers clients needs and outcomes.
Clients learn to advocate for themselves and better understand relationship patterns and goals as well as the interplay between actions, thoughts, and emotions.

Didn’t get the appointment. When I called the office got voicemail. I’ll still try this app, in the future, but things haven’t gone as planned or good yet. I think this kind of thing can work, it just didn’t work this time.
