I am James Cherry, a trauma-certified, DBT-certified therapist and clinical supervisor specializing in complex trauma, personality disorders, and relational healing. With a background as a high school educator, I bring a deep passion for learning, psychoeducation, and accessible care into therapy. My practice is neurodivergent-affirming, LGBTQIA+ inclusive, and rooted in evidence-based care that fosters resilience, clarity, connection, and lifelong growth. In our first session together, here's what you can expect You can expect a compassionate, non-judgmental space where your safety and comfort are prioritized. We will take time to understand your unique experiences and ensure you feel heard and validated. We may review history, including past traumas, current concerns, and what brings you to therapy, but will always allow you to share at your own pace. The session will focus on building trust and establishing a collaborative relationship. The focus moving forward may be identifying how the past, present, and future can affect your emotions, thoughts, and behaviors, and introducing techniques to help regulate your emotions and ground yourself when feeling overwhelmed. You won’t be rushed into discussing painful memories; instead, we will build the space for you to feel in control of your healing process. The goal of this first session is to set a foundation for future work, where you feel safe, empowered, and supported as you begin your journey toward healing The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions I utilize evidence-based practices and strive to help my clients build healthy coping skills, improve self-esteem, and empower them to reach their mental health goals. I do this by assisting clients in articulating connections between thoughts, feelings, and actions to understand better where they have been and what direction they now wish to go.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider's self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan's benefits.
