Psychotherapist
3808 W Riverside Dr, Ste 400, Burbank, CA
Hi, I’m James. I’m a licensed psychotherapist based in California, and I work with adults navigating life transitions, grief, relationship challenges, and questions around identity, intimacy, and self-worth. Many of the people I work with identify as LGBTQIA+, and I strive to offer a space where your full experience is welcomed and affirmed. Therapy with me is collaborative, present-focused, and grounded in curiosity. You don’t need to have everything figured out to begin. Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or just pulled toward change, we can slow down together and explore what’s asking for your attention. My approach integrates emotional insight, body awareness, and relational patterns to help you better understand yourself and move toward clarity, confidence, and connection. I offer in-person sessions in Los Angeles and telehealth for clients anywhere in California. If you’re curious about starting therapy, I’d be honored to connect and support you in finding a path forward that feels more aligned with who you are and what you need.

Getting to know James Dvorak

Many of the people I work with identify as LGBTQIA+, and I strive to offer a space where your full experience is welcomed and affirmed. Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or just pulled toward change, we can slow down together and explore what’s asking for your attention. If you’re curious about starting therapy, I’d be honored to connect and support you in finding a path forward that feels more aligned with who you are and what you need.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Therapy with me is collaborative, thoughtful, and rooted in curiosity. I won’t rush you or try to "fix" you. Instead, we’ll take time to explore what feels stuck or unclear and begin to understand the patterns, emotions, and beliefs shaping your experience. I pay attention to both what’s said and what’s felt, and I welcome all parts of you to show up, including the ones that have been quieted or pushed aside. My role is to support your growth with care, honesty, and presence, while helping you move toward a more grounded, self-connected, and aligned life.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first few sessions are about getting to know each other. I’ll invite you to share what’s bringing you in, what you’re hoping for, and what feels important to explore. From there, we’ll begin to notice patterns in your thoughts, relationships, and emotional experiences. Sessions often include reflection, emotional processing, and slowing down to make space for what’s coming up in the moment. I also bring attention to the body and nervous system when helpful, especially in times of anxiety or disconnection. Over time, our work can help you feel more grounded, connected to yourself, and clear about how you want to move forward.
