Getting to know James 'Jim' Pijloo

Hi there, I'm James "Jim"! I once read an anonymous quote: "You may not be able to control every situation and its outcome, but you can control how you deal with it." That speaks to how I approach therapy. Life's challenges often make situations feel "out of our control," adding stress and conflict in our relationships. My approach I provide a way to get where you want to be, but it won't be easy. I use various approaches to best suit you individually or your circumstances. It's unrealistic to think less than an hour-or even a few sessions-will ?fix things.? So, with full transparency, my time with you will have ups and downs requiring self-examination, soul searching, and ?homework.? My focus My goal is simple: to work with you and those important to you to find a way through tough times and discover better ways to cope with others and, more importantly, yourself as you seek solutions and positive outcomes. The path is not easy. I promise to be non-critical and non-judgmental of who you are and have found I am comfortable with all who choose me as their therapist. I work primarily with adults and have experience with many situations. Education I earned my Master's in Social Work from San Diego State University, equipping me with the skills and knowledge to support you effectively. My communication style Using an informal style, I focus on a strengths-based approach to help you develop mutually agreed-upon coping mechanisms to replace behaviors that brought you here. I work with relational issues and am sensitive to cultural and spiritual factors. What you do outside our sessions is crucial to success, and I promise to explore the best way to do so. Notice I didn't say ?easiest.? I look forward to hearing from you.
