Getting to know James McLintock

Hi there, I'm James! Hi, I'm James McLintock, a California Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (#114137) with a Master’s in Clinical Psychology from Azusa Pacific University. I specialize in working with paramedics, firefighters, military, and law enforcement professionals—and I offer counseling to ALL ADULTS IN CALIFORNIA—no matter your profession. I have learned there is nothing more painful than a broken heart or crushed spirit, and if you are struggling with a difficult season, I would enjoy the opportunity to connect with you. My approach My therapy style is relational; I like to explore ways to slow things down, take a step back, stabilize the situation with a teamwork approach, and help clients relaunch in a healthy new direction. My theoretical orientations include Emotionally Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Humanistic Theory, Attachment Woundedness, Solution Focused Therapy, Trauma Therapy, and Talk Therapy. My focus I work with individual adults and specialize in helping emergency responder professionals. In my private practice, I work closely with the California Department of Forestry/Cal Fire Emergency Responders and provided PTSD support for the Butte County Sheriff's Department Peer Support Team during the 2018 "Camp Fire." I have solid training and experience with trauma, anxiety, panic, depression, divorce recovery, anger, stress, social anxiety, childhood issues, emotional abuse, pornography addictions, and substance abuse recovery. My communication style Meeting a therapist can be highly anxious. I strive to create a down-to-earth, relaxed environment. Clients say I am easy to speak with, empathetic, and understanding of what they endure. They also experience my sense of humor, grace, and mercy. I am direct—with heart—when necessary.
