Psychotherapist

My name is Jase Wingate (he/they), and I approach therapy from a place of deep respect for your lived experience. I believe you are the expert of your own life, and my role is to walk alongside you as we make sense of your experiences and build a path forward that feels authentic and sustainable. My work is grounded in Person-in-Environment (PiE) practice, which means we don’t just look at what’s going on internally—we explore how your environment, relationships, systems, and experiences all shape your story. Together, we identify practical tools, meaningful resources, and strategies that align with your real life—not just theory. I am a Cognitively-Based Compassion Training (CBCT) Level One Instructor, and I integrate compassion-based and cognitive approaches to help you better understand your thoughts, build emotional resilience, and develop a more supportive relationship with yourself. My approach is both trauma-informed and resiliency-focused, creating a space where you can feel safe, affirmed, and empowered. Whether you’re navigating life transitions, identity exploration, stress, systemic challenges, or simply trying to feel more grounded, we’ll work together at your pace—without judgment. As a non-binary provider, I’m especially committed to creating an inclusive, affirming environment for LGBTQ+ individuals and anyone seeking a space where they can show up fully as themselves. You don’t have to have everything figured out to get started. If you’re ready to explore, heal, and build something meaningful—I'm here with you. I invite you to schedule a session and take that first step.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and you don’t have to come in with everything figured out. When you work with me, you can expect a space that is respectful, affirming, and grounded in your lived experience. My style is collaborative and flexible—we’ll work together to understand what’s been going on for you and what you want to move toward. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, I tailor our work to fit your needs, your goals, and your environment. I practice from a Person-in-Environment (PiE) lens, which means we’ll look at the bigger picture—how your relationships, systems, identity, and life experiences all interact with your mental health. Together, we’ll identify tools, resources, and strategies that are realistic and meaningful for your everyday life. I also integrate Cognitively-Based Compassion Training (CBCT) and other cognitive approaches, helping you better understand your thought patterns while building self-compassion and resilience. My work is both trauma-informed and resiliency-focused, so we move at a pace that feels safe for you while also supporting growth. Sessions with me can include open conversation, reflection, skill-building, and problem-solving—but always guided by what feels most helpful to you in the moment. Most importantly, you can expect to be met with respect, authenticity, and without judgment. My goal is to create a space where you feel supported in showing up fully as yourself.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We’ll start with an initial session where I take time to get to know you—your story, what’s bringing you in, and what you’re hoping to get out of therapy. There’s no pressure to share everything at once; we move at a pace that feels comfortable and safe for you. From there, we’ll work together to identify your goals and build a plan that fits your life. My approach is collaborative and grounded in a Person-in-Environment (PiE) perspective, so we’ll look at both what’s happening internally and how your environment, relationships, and experiences are shaping what you’re going through. A typical session is about 45–60 minutes and may include: Talking through current challenges or stressors Exploring patterns in thoughts, emotions, and behaviors Identifying strengths, supports, and resources Building practical tools you can use outside of sessions Reflecting on progress and adjusting goals as needed I also integrate Cognitively-Based Compassion Training (CBCT) and other cognitive approaches, so sessions may include developing self-awareness, practicing new ways of thinking, and building self-compassion alongside problem-solving. Some sessions may feel more reflective and conversation-based, while others may focus more on skill-building or strategy—it really depends on what you need in that moment. Overall, my goal is to create a space where you feel supported, understood, and empowered to make meaningful changes in a way that aligns with your lived experience.
