Getting to know Jami Kerr

Hi, I'm Dr. Jami Kerr! I am a queer-identified and affirmative, sex-positive therapist experienced in working with a spectrum of sexual orientations, identities, and relationships. I help individuals and couples interested in discussing interests in kink and consensual non-monogamy. If you are experiencing marginalization or shame around aspects of your identity, we'll work together on how you can gain more freedom to be fully yourself. My approach I am trained in various therapeutic techniques, including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy, and psychodynamic therapy. I earned my PsyD and Master's degrees from California Lutheran University, which have equipped me with a strong foundation to support diverse clients. My focus I specialize in working with queer, kinky, and consensually non-monogamous individuals and couples. I have a particular interest in working with folks whose identities fall between binaries, such as being biracial, bisexual/pansexual, or nonbinary. I also have extensive experience helping people with OCD, particularly those with intrusive thoughts around harm/violence, health concerns/contamination, perfectionist OCD, and relationship OCD. My communication style I provide a warm, supportive, and collaborative treatment that uses evidence-based strategies to help you move forward in your life. My journey to mental healthcare Before joining Rula, I worked in a variety of settings, such as a non-profit supporting individuals struggling with their sexual orientation and gender identity, a counseling center for adults involved in intimate partner violence or sexual trauma, a youth correctional facility, and an in-patient facility for individuals with severe mental health concerns. Through these experiences, I developed a drive to help people overcome seemingly insurmountable circumstances.
