Jamie Burger, LMFT

Jamie Burger, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
My name is Jamie Burger, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) based in Los Angeles, California, providing telehealth services throughout the state. I work with adults and couples, specializing in anxiety, life transitions, grief, stress, and relationship issues using a cognitive and client-centered approach. My approach to therapy is primarily cognitive with an emphasis on mindfulness. I believe it is important to examine the role thoughts play in the narrative of our lives, and learning to create space between them can often help with anxiety and mood. I focus on adults and couples, typically working with individuals experiencing life transitions, grief, and past trauma. Many clients come to me feeling anxious, sad, or stuck and need support managing their emotions. With couples, I work on improving communication and fostering realistic expectations in relationships. My communication style is relaxed, supportive, and non-judgmental. I want clients to feel safe and comfortable opening up, which can be especially challenging at the beginning of therapy. I was drawn to becoming a therapist because of my fascination with people's resiliency after enduring severe hardships. Helping others is deeply gratifying, and I feel grateful to be in a position to do so every day. I approach goal setting collaboratively, listening carefully to each individual's needs and creating a plan that feels realistic while utilizing their strengths. During the first session, clients can expect space to share what has brought them to therapy at this time. I actively listen and ask questions to gain a broader understanding of their symptoms and inner world.
