Jamie Lewis-Cox, LPC

Psychotherapist
GA
Hi! I’m an LPC in GA with over 10 years of experience working with all age groups in outpatient and inpatient settings, supporting those struggling with depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, and suicidal thoughts. Seeking therapy can be an anxiety-filled process. Whether it’s your first time or you’ve had bad experiences that left you feeling guarded or hopeless, you deserve counseling tailored to you. I practice from the fundamental belief that everyone deserves kindness and compassion. We do our best given our current situation but may make poor decisions. We are human, imperfect, and worthy of love and compassion—including you. I earned my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Clinical Psychology from Augusta State University and completed an EdS in Counselor Education at Augusta University. These educational experiences, combined with my personal journey, have shaped my approach to therapy. My therapeutic approach is integrative, primarily influenced by Cognitive Behavioral, Interpersonal Process, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapies. I also incorporate trauma-focused interventions, expressive arts, and mindfulness techniques. I have worked with clients diagnosed with depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, ADHD, and psychotic disorders, as well as those struggling with behavioral and emotional distress, low self-esteem, suicidal thoughts, self-harm, insomnia, and more. We all deserve respect and to be heard. I strive to communicate this in every session, both verbally and nonverbally. Active listening and working together side by side are essential to the therapeutic relationship. Through encouragement and gentle challenging, I will help you reach your goals. From an early age, I knew I wanted to help others, whether in the medical or mental health field. Through life and personal experiences, this desire grew. It was the combination of wanting to help others and my own counseling experiences that shaped me into the counselor I am today.
