Psychotherapist
1285 N Main St, Ste 101-9, Mansfield, TX
Jamille Perryman is supervised by Bryan Duncan. I am a holistic practitioner, bringing the mind, body, & spirit into counseling. I graduated from a 2-year Hakomi professional skills training concurrent with graduate school. Hakomi is mindful somatic psychotherapy where unconsciously held core material gets gently excavated in order to truly effectuate change. I bring my trauma-informed yoga teacher training into experiential skills groups where we cultivate interoceptive awareness, which is essential in healing trauma. Because I have been a nurse for the past 20 years, I know that issues not dealt with in the emotional, mental, or even spiritual realms will surface in the physical, i.e., the body. I use a neurobiological approach to counseling, attuning to you and to the present moment. I believe in the multiplicity of the mind and am Internal Family Systems (IFS) informed (waiting for my cohort training for IFS level 1). I specialize in trauma treatment-primary, secondary/vicarious, developmental, intergenerational, & historic. I am honored to hold space for my clients as we walk together on their healing path.

What should a new client know about working with you?

This is not your typical "talk therapy". We will cultivate mindfulness in service of delving into the implicit memories held in the body as sensations. Younger parts that didn't have choice and/or connection will become harmonious with the Self when protector parts are understood and unburdened with their jobs of protecting the system from being triggered or ameliorating pain when activated. Of course we will talk, move, and use yogic practices like breath and concentration to shift the nervous system from flight/fight or flop into safe and social engagement.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

You will come in and depending on your needs that day, maybe you sit on the couch, or lay on a yoga mat, or gently swing cocooned up in an aerial silk yoga hammock. Once comfortable, you can tell me whatever is most heavy in your heart or at the forefront of your mind. When we discover that rich topic that can unearth core material, we will slow down. I will guide you in feeling your body and breath, and once resourced, will start to explore that topic. In mindfulness, other thoughts, emotions, sensations, images, or memories may appear. We work with whatever is surfacing. Protective parts come in and we get curious about their role in your internal family. When Self energy is present we can connect with the young wounded parts, offering an experience of being supported that was not available at the time of the emotional pain. This is all done gently, little and often, and as you build capacity for being with, the deeper core wounding begins to heal. I always ensure you are oriented back to the present moment before you leave. This is deep work and provides real opportunity to change entrenched patterns of thinking and behaving.
