Psychotherapist
OH
Hi there, I'm Jane! I am a Licensed Clinical Counselor. I have an independent license in WV as an LPC (ALPS) and in Ohio as an LPCC-S. My experience consists of evaluating, diagnosing, and Treatment for teens and adults struggling with Mental, Emotional, and/or Substance Use and other Addictive Disorders. My focus and approach to therapy are centered on my client's needs and their goals for treatment. My approach My therapeutic approach to providing therapy begins with active listening. I have used several approaches in providing therapy, however, the use of Cognitive Behavior Therapy can help clients understand the connection between irrational or negative thinking and one's behavior. My use of Reality Therapy has helped clients direct their own lives, make better choices, and develop the ability to handle stresses and problems in their lives. My focus My knowledge and experience have allowed me to be comfortable working with clients struggling with issues and concerns that hinder their stability and growth. Sometimes people just "get stuck" in the chaos of life and need help to get "unstuck". Addressing one's past and present thoughts and behaviors is a way to facilitate change for the future. My communication style It is my belief that building a connection, especially trust with a client early in therapy, is important for the therapeutic process to move forward. Encouraging the client to express their thoughts, feelings and concerns and for the clinician to listen and acknowledge what the client is sharing is a good way to build trust and a connection with the client. My journey to mental healthcare I was a young mother of three children. I experienced many roadblocks in obtaining an education. Was told you can't or "you're not college material". Then a Helper appeared and showed me how to avoid roadblocks and think differently. My experience and education laid the foundation for me to help others avoid roadblocks and change negative thoughts.
