Getting to know Janelle Hoover-Pollock

I believe everyone has the right to live a life where they feel happy and safe. I utilize strength-based practices because I believe everyone brings strengths to therapy. I am working on becoming certified in EMDR. I hold a Master's in Social Work from Winthrop University and have been working in this field for the past 22 years in many different capacities. I have worked with foster children in an independent living program, teaching life skills to young adults ages 17?22. I have over 12 years of experience in the child welfare system and am very knowledgeable in this area. I have provided emergency mental health services through a mobile crisis team and have worked with the elderly in assisted living facilities as well as individuals with severe and pervasive mental illness. For five years, I worked part-time in private practice settings. Currently, I work within an integrated care setting alongside a psychiatrist, providing brief interventions in the clinic and ongoing therapy within the same company. I am also contracted with our local domestic violence shelter to provide therapy to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, elder abuse, and human trafficking. All of my experiences have been rewarding, but my domestic violence work is my passion, and I feel honored to support survivors on their path to healing. I work with a wide range of people facing concerns such as depression, anxiety, LGBTQ+ issues, substance abuse, severe mental illness, couples counseling, and parent-child relationship challenges.
