Janelle Rivera, LCSW

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Janelle! I've been there. I've had days where it's hard to get out of bed... nights spent awake trying to calm anxieties and racing thoughts. When people say, "Maybe you should talk to someone"... I've been there. Scrolling through countless therapist profiles, hoping to find relief or a better fit. Yup. Been there. My approach I believe progress in therapy is 85% the relationship between therapist and client, and 15% therapeutic intervention. With that in mind, I use several treatment modalities: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness-based interventions, Narrative Therapy, and Solution-Focused interventions. My focus I work with adults 18 and older, specializing in anxiety, depression, grief, and perinatal/postpartum issues. My communication style I am honest, direct, warm, open, and non-judgmental. My journey to mental healthcare A little about me: I hold a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a Master's in Social Work from New York University. I have over 18 years of experience, beginning in foster care social work and expanding to individual, couples, and group therapy, as well as medical/hospital social work. Like I said at the start-I've been there. I know what it's like to need help, relief, and support. It's possible to feel better and reach where you want to be. When you're ready, I'm here. My goals for you We'll collaborate to discuss what's bringing you to therapy now, explore where you want to be, and how you want to feel.
