Janet Lewis, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Janet! I am a client-centered therapist, and my goal is to help those who have struggles with anxiety, depression, and stress. I also work with children who struggle with behaviors at home and in the school setting. My approach I use solution-focused brief therapy, DBT, and CBT skills as my approach. I use skills from each theoretical approach in order to help each individual person. My focus I mostly work with children ranging from elementary school to high school. I also work with young adults, and I am comfortable working with those who have family issues, trauma, anxiety, depression, and behavioral issues. My communication style I create a safe space for a client to be themselves, to share their thoughts, their worries, and their goals, and I take on the role of encouraging and praising their efforts and their actions that take them a step closer to their goals. My journey to mental healthcare I was attracted to being a therapist because I have an uncle who has mental health issues, so I wanted to learn ways to help my family help my uncle. I wanted to do the same for others and help them have a happier life, a life they look forward to. My goals for you I ask for their input, their ideas, and what they want to create as a goal because they are the expert. If they need ideas or encouragement, I offer that as well, but I like the client to come up with a realistic goal for themselves. My first session with you The client should expect the session to be about getting to ask questions, setting goals, talking about expectations for therapy, and just getting to ask questions about the process of therapy.
