Getting to know Janet Monzon

Hola, my name is Blanca "Janet" Monzon. I am a proud Central American (Guatemalan) who loves my brown skin, curly hair, and adorable chug (pug/chihuahua), Kiko. I am passionate about creating spaces dedicated to radical healing for and by BIPOC. I am a first-gen fat brown woman who believes it is important to humanize the mental health profession. As a first-gen Latinx woman, it is deeply important to me that BIPOC folks have mental health providers they don't need to explain their lives to. I have seen the need in my community for us to heal from trauma and return to our bodies, and that is where my training and practice are focused. I hold a Master's in Social Work from California State University, Long Beach, and I am a licensed clinical social worker with over 15 years of experience working in communities of color in the fields of education, mental health, and community organizing.
