Janice Clarkson, LMHC

Psychotherapist
FL
Hi there, I'm Janice! Dr. Janice Clarkson, EdD in Counseling Psychology from Sarasota University, LCMHC, specializes in relationship issues, including addiction, codependency, domestic abuse, and challenges stemming from depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and trauma. I create an environment in therapy that makes it easy to explore the issues a person wants to talk about. I believe humor, playfulness, and understanding are key ingredients to helping a person heal and feel better. I am not a therapist who sits quietly and nods my head. I believe in getting into the work with a client and am involved and engaged throughout the process. My approach is warm and easy-going, and I find that the people I work with disclose quickly and find solutions to the issues they are facing. My approach My evidence-based approach reflects the understanding that new healthy experiences and relationships constantly reshape our brains. I integrate this with the finding that having a sense of purpose improves overall health and the idea that a healthy body exists as a reflection of a healthy mind. I work with adults, providing evidence-based treatments for a variety of challenges. My areas of interest include depression, anxiety, addiction, relationships, life transitions, grief, and stress reduction. My primary treatment approach is brief solution-focused therapy with adjunct cognitive behavioral input, while incorporating mindfulness and a strong focus on understanding and respecting clients' values and how to accomplish them in daily life. My focus Over the past 30 years, I have worked in various capacities and settings as a clinician for children, teens, individuals, families, couples, and state prison inmates. Although I enjoy and am skilled in working with all populations, my current focus is on female adults. As a clinician for women, I serve as an impartial listener who will assist you with improved communication and seeing the perspectives of others.
