Janice Peyton, LCSW

Psychotherapist
CA
I am a licensed clinical social worker based in Ventura County, CA, serving clients through telehealth. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from California State University Long Beach. I am seasoned in substance addiction and group counseling. For 15 years, I have supported patients diagnosed with diabetes, including those undergoing clinical dialysis treatment, where I found my true passion. I am board-certified in bariatrics counseling and weight loss. My approach I use a client-centered approach with here-and-now direct interventions incorporating motivational interviewing and spiritual meditation techniques (all beliefs welcome). I investigate irrational thinking using the REBT model. I address body negative image through art, mindful movement, and narrative expression. A 12-step approach is also available as a resource. My focus I aim to support young adults to elders, males, females, or other, struggling with binge eating disorder, compulsive eating, and emotional overeating. Those who feel defeated by countless attempts but still want to work toward personal freedom from the food allergy. I also enjoy working with recovering alcoholics or addicts, focusing on emotional sobriety. My communication style I strive to create an atmosphere of absolute positive regard and acceptance, sharing a weekly journey with my client. Meditation, stretching, music, and art are generally enjoyed by my clients. My journey to mental healthcare I learned early what is truly helpful to others and the balance it takes to feel fulfilled myself. The magic comes from active listening, empathy, and sharing hope. Coming from a family history of addiction and recovery, I understand from personal experience the pain and delight of working through my own addictive eating disorder. There are many options today for help! My goals for you No tests, no judgments—primarily I am present to offer tools, listen, and support.
