Janie Thompson, LPC

Psychotherapist
GA
Hi there, I'm Janie! My name is Janie Thompson, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Dalton, Georgia, working statewide via telehealth. I hold a Master of Education in Counseling and Human Development from Lindsey Wilson College. I work with adolescents and adults facing a variety of challenges such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, and mood disorders, primarily using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy along with an eclectic approach to other modalities. My approach My approach to therapy varies based on each individual’s needs. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is my primary method, allowing me to identify strengths in every person and build on their experiences with new skills and techniques to overcome obstacles. I provide support and education with empathy and kindness in a relaxed atmosphere. My focus My style and approach have been a good fit for teens, young adults, and older adults dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, parenting and marital issues, self-esteem, Autism, PTSD, relationship challenges, LGBTQ concerns, and life transitions. My communication style I want my clients to feel comfortable talking with me about anything, and I pride myself on my ability to listen without judgment. Unconditional Positive Regard! We all want a space where we can speak freely. My journey to therapy My life’s journey has shaped me into a helper. I love to watch people overcome! My work in various environments—as an in-home case manager, school therapist, and now private practice provider—has shaped my approach to therapy. My passion is to help clients grow and learn to lead healthy, stable lives as they navigate this ever-changing world. My goals for you Goal setting with clients is about working together to define what you want to accomplish in our time together. This often starts by building trust and getting comfortable with what it means to be in therapy. Over time, we will set goals and track your progress.
