Getting to know Janine Ochoa
My name is Janine Ochoa, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with a Master's in Psychology from Antioch College. I have worked with adolescents in foster care and currently support adults dealing with substance counseling, anxiety, depression, and PTSD, among other challenges. While I have experience with many approaches, I have enhanced my skills in cognitive behavioral therapy and attachment-based therapy to help clients develop coping skills and strengthen their self-determination.
My approach
I tailor my approach to each client's unique needs. I often use attachment-based therapy to explore how past experiences impact the present, aiming to improve quality of life. Cognitive behavioral therapy helps clients recognize behavioral patterns that hinder growth and replace them with healthier ways of thinking.
My focus
I have witnessed how these approaches benefit adolescents and adults struggling with issues of belonging and self-acceptance. These challenges often manifest as substance use, self-deprecation, and hopelessness. My goal is to help clients cultivate greater self-love and develop a more positive outlook on themselves and the world around them.
My communication style
I create a calm, secure environment where clients can express themselves freely and without judgment. This non-judgmental space allows clients to share whatever they need comfortably.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have always loved listening to others and using my knowledge to encourage and support them. My experience includes working with the homeless population and teens in schools. I have seen the great need for therapists who serve as guides to enhance lives. I enjoy helping people become the best versions of themselves and live their best lives.

We have been seeing Janine for couples counseling. She was the first one suggested to us. We have been very pleased with her.
