Hi there! My name is Jackie, a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT#148173) in California, and I want to share a little about myself so you can get a sense of what working with me might feel like. I became a therapist after experiencing the healing that comes from being in your shoes-wanting help in therapy. I share this because I want you to know I am human, just like you. I understand what it's like to hurt, worry, grieve, and struggle-and I also know that facing those challenges alone is much harder. Through my personal and professional experience, I've learned that we gain strength and find healing through safe connections with others. As a therapist, my work is creating a safe, connecting space for you to be your honest, authentic, and struggling self. I want you to feel able to say out loud what you're too ashamed to say, take a break from acting like you have it all together, question the beliefs you grew up hearing you weren't allowed to doubt, and let yourself feel the emotions you've been told to hide or minimize. My approach varies depending on what you, as a client or couple, need. I tend to gravitate toward Client-Centered Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Attachment Theory, and Gottman Theory. My journey to mental healthcare began after a first career in teaching and a lifelong passion for world peace. I believe world peace can be achieved when we find peace in our own inner world-mind, body, and soul. I want people to experience a safe connection with me so they too can find that peace. I earned my bachelor's degree from California State University Long Beach, which laid the foundation for my path into therapy and healing.
