Getting to know Jasmine Gates

Hi! I'm Jasmine, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with six years of therapy experience. I earned my Bachelor's in Psychology from Eastern Michigan University in 2010 and completed my Master of Social Work at Johnson C. Smith University, graduating in 2017. Do you struggle with change and life transitions? Feel overstimulated and unable to ground yourself? Experience isolation or feel "different" from others? Are you exploring your identity, sexuality, or self-image? Are you seeking a therapist who provides a space where you can comfortably vent, find relief, and explore your story?however unconventional it may be? Do you crave a place to discover yourself or be encouraged to be the expert on your life while being held accountable for your goals? If you want to live a life aligned with your values and true identity while communicating and reinforcing your boundaries, I can help you get there. Together, using strength-based and person-centered therapy with a psychodynamic touch (and a healthy dose of humor), we can partner to build your confidence, enhance your strengths, and empower you to be who you are. Feel self-assured in your value and speak up for what you want in your life, relationships, and career. If you're ready to build a happy, thriving life while staying true to yourself, let's chat today. Coming from a military family that has been located throughout the United States, I've had the opportunity to meet people from diverse cultures and backgrounds. This experience has helped me become more culturally competent and open-minded when working with different clients. When I'm not in therapist mode, I'm either out and about attending open mics, enjoying brunch, having fun at concerts, or at home watching the Food Network, cartoons, dramas, and comedies.

What should a new client know about working with you?

"In the first session, you can expect to explore family, your supports, treatment history, how you cope, and more about your background and experiences. Throughout our time together, you can expect a laugh, empowerment, coping skills, a safe space, validation, and growth. "

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

Thank you!
Jasmine was very attentive and empathetic. She let me lead the discussion, but if I ever felt awkward or when I finished my thoughts, she would bridge any gaps by asking thought provoking questions or making insightful comments. I have only completed my introductory session with her, but based off my initial impression of her she appears to be intelligent, insightful, professional, and provides a comfortable environment to talk about your feelings. I look forward to my future appointments with her.

Jasmine is very nonjudgmental so I never feel like I have to sugarcoat anything from a patient's POV. I also feel heard in our sessions. Her questions push me to dive into my thoughts further.
Jasmine has a very safe presence and connects with my needs during in each session. She validates and provides a mirror (not physically) for me to reflect on my own thoughts and processes.
I felt very comfortable and respected.
