What should a new client know about working with you?

Following my undergraduate degree, I worked within the research field, specializing in the assessment of risk and protective factors for substance use and the development of PTSD in vulnerable populations. This work lead to my decision to pursue graduate training as a therapist, in efforts to assist those who have experienced various traumas and mood disorders. I trained and was employed for 16 years with the Veterans Health Administration, working primarily with combat Veterans, survivors of military sexual trauma, and individuals struggling to cope with depression, anxiety, OCD, and other disorders. For two decades, I have concurrently managed a private practice where I treat similar issues, but with civilian populations and LGBTQ+ populations. Providing therapy is my largest passion, outside of being a wife and mother. I consistently receive feedback from clients who state that I am a "down-to-earth" and genuinely caring provider. I look forward to speaking with you to discover how I may best help you achieve your goals! I fully believe that therapy is a partnership, and I work with clients to establish goals and objectives that directly impact and improve functionality, quality of life, and overall well-being. My role as a therapist is to help you identify your goals and assist in achieving goals through psychodynamic and/or cognitive behavioral processing, provision of supportive therapy, and psychoeducation. As clients meet their objectives, goals often evolve to meet the insights and levels of awareness that have been reached. For some, setting goals and objectives can be a daunting process. Working with clients to identify their values and sources of meaning is often in determining goals, objectives, and our path forward.
