Psychotherapist
FL
I work best with individuals and families who are ready to explore how the past may still be impacting their present—especially those navigating life after adoption, foster care, or involvement in the child welfare system. Many of my clients are seeking support in building connection, trust, and emotional safety, both within themselves and in their relationships. As we gently peel back the layers of pain, fear, and emotional triggers, you may begin to notice a ripple effect—especially in how you relate to others, and most importantly, how you feel about yourself. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in practices that really work. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure where to begin, I offer a safe and supportive space to help you heal at your own pace. Together, we’ll gently explore what’s been weighing you down—whether it’s big emotions, difficult relationships, past trauma, health issues, grief, or major life decisions. I’ll guide you through tools that help you release emotional pain, shift unhelpful patterns, and find more clarity. The goal is to help you think more clearly, feel more grounded, and move toward a life that feels more fulfilling and aligned with who you truly are. Clients often leave sessions with a deeper understanding of how their past experiences impact their present emotions, relationships, and behaviors. Over time, they gain tools to reduce reactivity, manage symptoms, and feel more in control of their inner world. Many begin to feel more connected to themselves, to others, and to the life they want to build. Whether we’re working through trauma, navigating adoption-related dynamics, or rebuilding a sense of self-worth, my clients walk away with greater clarity, self-compassion, and the ability to make choices rooted in healing rather than survival. You won’t just learn to cope—you’ll begin to heal, reconnect, and grow in ways that feel authentic and lasting.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Whether you’re carrying a heavy story, working to heal relationships, or simply trying to feel more like yourself again, I offer a space where all parts of you are welcome. You don’t need to have the right words—you just need to show up. We’ll take the rest one step at a time. I am a direct but compassionate communicator. I will push you to show up authentic and do the work. I prioritize clear, open communication to create a supportive, non-judgmental environment. I practice active listening and will give you opportunities to reflect on your experiences with you as an empathetic partner. If we’re working through something challenging, you can expect me to be calm and patient. In the style of therapy that I do, you won't receive much, if any, insights from me as I'm supporting you in finding your own insights by looking at life's challenges from different angles...pushing you to find those Ahaa moments. My path to becoming a therapist was shaped by both professional training and lived experience. As someone who has done the deep work of healing from childhood trauma, I understand how painful—and powerful—that process can be. My journey taught me the importance of having a safe space to explore hard emotions, rebuild trust, and reconnect with a sense of self. Later, as an adoptive parent and former foster parent, I witnessed the ongoing impact of trauma and attachment firsthand. These experiences inspired me to pursue specialized training in trauma recovery and adoption-competent care, so I could offer others the kind of support and understanding I once needed myself.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My approach is rooted in Metapsychology, using techniques like Traumatic Incident Reduction (TIR) and Life Stress Reduction (LSR). These structured methods help clients gently process painful experiences, reduce emotional overwhelm, and gain clarity—without re-traumatization. Many people leave sessions feeling lighter, more grounded, and better able to move forward. In our first session, we'll begin with an intake assessment so I can learn more about who you are, your history, and what brings you to therapy. We'll also talk about what therapy might look like, go over the structure of our work together, and begin building a comfortable, trusting connection. This is your space—you’re welcome to ask any questions, share what feels important, or just take your time. By the end of our session, we’ll start creating a plan that feels right for you and your goals.
