Getting to know Jeannine Sonnier

I’ve always felt born to do this work—I just didn’t know the official title until I sat down with my college advisor to pick a major. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to people of all ages and walks of life, naturally helping them find their own path. Even during my breaks from practice to raise my kids, this work never truly stopped for me. I deeply love people, and my favorite part of therapy is spotting your strengths before you can see them yourself. From there, we figure out where you want to go and begin untangling the threads to healing. Being part of that journey every day is a true privilege.

What should a new client know about working with you?

In our first session, we take things at your pace. It’s a warm, judgment-free time to talk through what’s going on, explore what you’d like therapy to look like, and get a feel for how we work together. I'll explain a few housekeeping details, ask what you'd like to know about me, and share what you can expect in the future. From then on, I'll make sure it's a completely collaborative experience—focusing on your strengths, untangling what feels heavy, and ensuring you feel supported every step of the way.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I specialize in treating the deep-seated impacts of trauma, complex PTSD, anxiety, and depression. I have experience with youth in corrections, issues with school issues such as refusal or developmental struggles, ADHD, anger, impulsive behavior, conflict resolution, self-esteem, low self worth, and family struggles. The transition to college and beyond is an important area I specialize in as well.
