It is no surprise to anyone when I type that these past few years have been challenging. Circumstances have made us take deep, hard looks at our work lives, relationships, physical and mental health, and our place in this world. For some, it has been a chance to reset. For some, a chance to dismantle and start again. For most, it's been a period of feeling stuck, scared, unsure of what to do next. If you are on this site, you are looking for guidance, relief, clarity. This can be tough stuff. Many of us were living our lives, plugging along, doing daily living. Then we were forced to stop. We were forced to look around. What once seemed great or fine now looks tarnished, dented. The classic, often sarcastically used, existential crisis. What do we want? Do we need to dismantle all of it? Some of it? Do we need to smooth out dents, add shine? Do we have a right to ask these questions? After all, we've been operating this way for years. This is expected of us. This is how the world knows us. Isn't it selfish to try to change the rules this far into the game? Yeah, it is. But that's okay. This is good selfish. Improving ourselves, making adjustments allows us to feel more powerful, confident. It allows us to carry ourselves in a way that is more about living a life of peace rather than fear. I work with many men who find themselves untethered from the existence that sustained them for so long. This has been the blessing and curse of the past few years. It has created chaos, sadness, strife. But it has also opened doors to options, calmness, and love. I bring to this work a foundation built on my education from the University of Michigan, where I earned my bachelor's degree, and Fordham University, where I completed my Master’s in Social Work. These experiences have shaped my approach and deepened my commitment to supporting those navigating life’s complexities. We only get one chance here.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I am engaged. I recognize that this can be stressful. Coming into an office, sharing your stuff with a guy who you hope gets you. I make it clear to individuals who have never been in therapy before that the first several sessions are you and I getting to know each other. I'm collecting data. You are deciding if I am able to help you. I'm approachable. This is your session. If you don't agree with something that comes out of my mouth, I encourage you to speak up. I can take it. If you are able to speak up in our session, you are laying the groundwork to advocate for yourself outside of the room. That's a win. I want you to feel that you are making progress. Not every session is going to be transformative (most will not be). Hopefully, though, most sessions will leave you feeling that you gained something of value. I've had a lot of therapists throughout the years. I've taken these experiences to hone my own skills--I like to think that I'm able to read the room and identify what works best for each of my clients. Yes, I'll make adjustments along the way. The goal--to ensure that each client feels safe, heard, understood and respected. Once we get this in place, we are home free.
