Jennifer Butler, LCSW

Psychotherapist
CA
My name is Jennifer Butler, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Southern California, working with clients statewide via Telehealth. I hold a Master's in Social Work from Simmons College. I work with adolescents, adults, and older adults from diverse backgrounds and cultures, specializing in the treatment of trauma, stress, anxiety, grief, and depression using Person (Client) Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy. My approach Because each individual is unique, my approach is tailored to each client's needs. While I primarily use Person (Client) Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy, I am open to incorporating other modalities if the client and I agree it would best serve their interests. My focus I have extensive experience working with teens, young adults, adults, and older adults, especially those dealing with grief, trauma, and life's challenges and transitions. I am comfortable and familiar with working with clients from diverse cultures and backgrounds. My communication style My communication style is calm, light-hearted, and personable, yet honest and straightforward. I often use client-relatable metaphors to help clients recall skills discussed in sessions later on. I listen without judgment, and clients typically feel very comfortable and able to be themselves during our sessions. My journey to therapy As a multilingual immigrant, married to a combat veteran, and raising biracial children-one of whom has special needs-I understand firsthand the importance of mental health and having a diverse, inclusive, and equitable experience in one's mental health journey. I have always had a passion for helping others and making a difference; reflecting on what I can offer based on my personal experiences and passion, becoming a therapist was a natural path for me.
