Getting to know Jennifer Harmon

My name is Jennifer Harmon. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master's in Social Work from the University of Utah, providing telehealth services in Utah and California. I approach therapy as a partnership in which you are the expert in your own life, and I am here to support you in reaching your goals and optimum health. My approach to therapy varies based on the unique needs of each client. Most often, I use cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, solution-focused therapy, and dialectical behavioral therapy. I also enjoy incorporating writing, art, and music into my treatment approaches. I have had the opportunity to work with many different clients, including individuals, families, groups, and couples. My approach has been especially helpful in treating sexual issues, whether related to addiction or as a perpetrator or victim of sex crimes. Additionally, I have extensive experience working with adolescents and adults struggling with addiction, as well as mood disorders such as depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder. My communication style is honest, open, and personable. My goal is for every client to feel comfortable and able to be honest and true to themselves while working with me. I truly believe that we are all experts in our own lives, and I strive to meet clients where they are and communicate in a way that feels most comfortable to them. During my teenage years, I experienced trauma, loss, and many life changes. It was during this time that I learned the importance of seeking support and also discovered my ability to support others. Throughout my life, I have endured many trials that have made me stronger and more understanding of the various life stressors my clients face. My typical approach is to help clients identify their goals and then assist them in developing a plan with small, measurable steps that enable them to feel they are making progress.
