Psychotherapist
TX
Hi there, I'm Jennifer! I am Jennifer Jacobs, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Phoenix. My counseling style is pretty laid back, and I have been described as supportive, caring, empathetic, and compassionate. I like to focus on identifying your strengths and helping you maximize them to overcome your obstacles. My approach Everyone is different, so my therapeutic approach is eclectic. This means I incorporate a variety of therapeutic principles to meet the specific needs of each individual client. I specifically enjoy using Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Positive Psychology, and Client-Centered Therapy. My focus I have counseled adults dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and family challenges. I have experience providing individual, group, family, and couples therapy in areas such as victimization, trauma, coping skills, forgiveness, self-esteem, conflict resolution, family reunification, and relapse prevention. My communication style The ultimate goal of your counseling experience is to acquire tools that promote positive change for personal growth and help you cope effectively with life events. I consider myself warm, down-to-earth, and approachable. I love exploring others’ perspectives to better understand and communicate with them. I’m here to help you sort through difficult moments and offer a safe space to be open and honest without fear of judgment. You’ve already taken the first and most important step by reaching out for help. My journey to therapy I became an LPC for a couple of reasons. First, my mother suffered from mental illness, and I wanted to understand her better. This understanding allowed me to develop empathy and see things from her perspective. Second, for most of my life, I was the go-to person for advice and guidance, which inspired me to pursue this path professionally.
