Getting to know Jennifer Peng

Are you feeling lost, anxious, or stuck in patterns that are hard to break? Maybe you’re dealing with intrusive thoughts, burnout, overthinking, or a sense of disconnection from yourself. Or perhaps you’re questioning your identity, where you belong, or how different parts of you fit together in this complex world. If any of this resonates, you don’t have to navigate it alone. I work with individuals navigating high stress, responsibility, and identity complexity: including professionals, first responders, and healthcare workers. I also specialize in identity integration, particularly for those who are multicultural, multiracial, immigrant, or first- and second-generation, or exploring questions of belonging and self-definition. My approach is relational, trauma-attuned, culturally-informed and practical. We focus on understanding patterns at their root, regulating your nervous system, and building the ability to respond with more clarity, compassion and intention. If you’re ready to feel more grounded, aligned, and in control of yourself, you can book a session to get started.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Sessions tend to feel more like a thoughtful, warm conversation than a typical therapy session, while still being intentional and focused. I will help you slow down, notice patterns, and make connections between your thoughts, emotions, body, and experiences. I tend to go beyond surface-level coping and focus on understanding the why behind what you’re experiencing: whether that’s rooted in past experiences, environment, identity, or the roles you’ve had to hold. At the same time, we will build concrete tools to help you manage anxiety, regulate your nervous system, and respond more intentionally in your day-to-day life. I place a strong emphasis on identity and context. This means we may explore how your background, family history, environment, and lived experiences have shaped how you see yourself and move through the world. For many clients, this becomes an important part of feeling more grounded and integrated. Please know that we will never rush into anything; you can expect a space that is steady, collaborative, and attuned to where you are.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our first few sessions, we focus on understanding what’s bringing you in, along with your background, patterns, and goals for therapy. This includes exploring current challenges (such as anxiety, stress, or burnout), as well as any relevant life experiences, relationships, and identity factors that may be shaping how things show up today. From there, we begin identifying patterns: how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors interact, and where you may feel stuck or reactive. I’ll help you start building awareness of these patterns in real time, both in and outside of sessions. As we continue, sessions typically include a mix of: - processing current situations or stressors - exploring deeper themes (such as identity, past experiences, or internal conflicts) - learning and practicing tools for managing anxiety, regulating your nervous system, and responding more intentionally I tailor the pace and focus of therapy based on your needs. Some sessions may be more reflective and insight-oriented, while others are more skills-based and practical. Over time, the goal is to help you not only feel better, but to better understand, accept, and love yourself.
