Jennifer Pope, LCSW - C

Psychotherapist
MD
Hi there, I'm Jennifer! I provide a unique approach to effectively decrease the prevalence and incidence of mental illness, emotional disturbance, and social dysfunction. It is my mission to make mental health more approachable and tangible. My clinical practice focuses on lowering mental health stigma, providing clinical treatment, and encouraging everyone to achieve their optimum level of wellness. My approach I provide compassionate, solution-focused treatment using CBT, EMDR, and other trauma-based modalities. My focus I work best with clients experiencing trauma, anxiety, and depression. My ideal clients are ready for change and willing to engage in the therapeutic process with a compassionate guide to achieve their greatest level of wellness. My communication style I offer a down-to-earth style of communication with my clients. I encourage clients to come to sessions as their full, authentic selves. I challenge my clients to get the most out of their sessions, which often includes homework and assessments throughout treatment. My journey to mental healthcare I remember watching an old black-and-white movie in high school called *The Bad Seed*. In this movie, a troubled young girl was being seen by a psychologist, and I was deeply moved by the methodology used to try to help her. I thought to myself, “I really want to do something like that.” I was always naturally the person in my circle and family whom people came to talk to about what they were going through. This interest, along with my innate desire to help others, led me to pursue a career in clinical social work. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Maryland, Baltimore. It is my career goal to help lower mental health stigma and support others in becoming the best version of themselves. My goals for you I explore a client’s vision of their therapeutic outcomes to create proposed treatment goals. The client must approve all treatment goals.
