Jennifer Villar, LMFT

Jennifer Villar, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
Prior to becoming a therapist, I was a special education teacher working with school-aged children facing emotional and mental health challenges. During this time, I realized that children and adolescents often struggle with daily life issues that make it difficult to focus on anything, including school. This insight inspired me to pursue my counseling education and career. I earned my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Phoenix and began working as a therapist in a wraparound program. There, I focused on providing mental health services and resources to children and their families affected by neglect, abuse, domestic violence, and trauma. Currently, I see adolescents and adults and enjoy helping those dealing with anxiety, stress, self-esteem issues, adjusting to new phases in life, and processing trauma. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, drawing, hiking, running, karaoke, and doing DIY projects.

What should a new client know about working with you?

In our first session, I would love to get an understanding of what your personal mental health goals are, and what you hope to take away from therapy. I will answer any questions you may have regarding therapy, and the process. As a cognitive behavioral therapist, I will explain how CBT works and how the way we think about things can affect our mood and behavior. In on going sessions, we will review what is working and not working for you, and give you the confidence and tools to make your own choices in your life.

In-network insurances

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
