Getting to know Jenny DeSantis

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor with over 20 years of experience helping adults and couples work through anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, adults with emotionally unavailable parents, low self-esteem, and substance use concerns. I provide virtual psychotherapy to clients in New York, New Jersey, and Massachusetts.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach is practical, supportive, psychodynamic, and collaborative. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness, and strengths-based techniques to help you understand what’s happening, why it’s happening, and what you can do about it. Therapy with me is not just about talking—it’s about learning tools you can actually use in your daily life.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Starting therapy can feel overwhelming—but you don’t have to figure it out alone.Clients often come to me when they feel: Stuck in anxiety or overthinking Overwhelmed by stress or life transitions Struggling in their relationship or communication with a partner Impacted by childhood trauma or past experiences Burned out, emotionally drained, or lacking confidence Concerned about substance use or unhealthy coping patterns I work with adults and couples who want to feel more confident, more at peace, and more in control of their lives and relationships. You can expect sessions to be warm, judgment-free, and sometimes even infused with a little humor. My goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable being honest, understood, and supported while we work toward meaningful, lasting change. If you’re looking for a therapist who is compassionate, direct, and focused on real growth, I’d be honored to work with you.
