Jeshonda Dennis, LCSW - C

Psychotherapist
MD
Hi there, I'm Jeshonda! I'm a licensed clinical social worker with a Master's in Social Work from Delaware State University. I have over 5 years of experience working with adult clients who struggle with depression, anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, and trauma. I offer a supportive environment where you can fully express yourself without judgment, gain insight, and take steps toward personal growth. My goal is to help clients find joy, heal, and become the best version of themselves. My approach I use five main theoretical approaches during treatment, selecting the best fit for each session based on clients' specific needs in the moment. Christian-Based Counseling integrates Christian principles and beliefs into the counseling process, addressing mental and emotional well-being through a faith-based lens. Spiritual practices, such as Biblical scriptures, are incorporated to bring calm to the soul. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy helps clients explore and identify thought patterns that impact their emotions. Clients learn to manage problems by transforming unhelpful thoughts into positive ones, improving their behaviors. Humanistic Theory encourages clients to become self-aware of their free will so they can make decisions best suited for their lives. Psychodynamic Theory focuses on unconscious conflicts, desires, and defenses that shape personality and behavior, guiding clients to process and reflect on early childhood experiences and past traumas that still affect them today. Mindfulness-Based Therapy teaches coping tools that connect mind and body, helping clients focus on the present moment to achieve emotional regulation.
