My name is Jessica Dennis, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master's in Social Work from the University of Southern California. I have a background working with BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, Persons of Color) and military/veteran populations seeking to break generational cycles. My approach As a person of color and retired Army veteran with two deployments, I understand the challenges of complex traumas, life stressors, transitions, obstacles, and relationship stressors. Therapy is like a relationship, and I am committed to providing a safe, welcoming space for diverse communities and concerns. There is no one-size-fits-all approach; you are the expert on your life, and I want to collaborate and support you on your therapy journey. My focus I provide culturally responsive therapy to individuals and couples using a strengths-based approach. I also work with those new to therapy or the first in their families to seek it. I am open to anyone serious about working on themselves who needs support and a listening ear. My communication style I want you to feel comfortable opening up in session. I offer a calm, nurturing, non-judgmental environment but am also direct and ask questions that encourage reflection. I want to know you as a person to partner with you in achieving your goals. My journey to mental healthcare About ten years ago, fresh off a year-long deployment I call the best worst time, a retired Marine asked me after 10 minutes if I had thought about becoming a therapist. Now, here I am. My military experiences inspire me to do this work because I know what it's like to feel alone, unseen, and unheard. I strive to provide that compassion and understanding to others.
