Psychotherapist
TX
I'm Jessica Elliott, LMFT, and I provide virtual therapy for adults and couples across Texas through A Strand of Hope Counseling LLC. I specialize in working with individuals who feel emotionally overwhelmed, mentally exhausted, disconnected in relationships, or stuck in patterns that no longer serve them. My approach is warm, collaborative, trauma-informed, and rooted in helping clients better understand the connection between the mind, body, emotions, and nervous system. I integrate somatic approaches, attachment-based work, parts work, ACT, and relational therapy to help clients move beyond survival mode and toward a more grounded and authentic life. I have a special interest in supporting clients navigating anxiety, perfectionism, identity concerns, chronic illness, and major life transitions. I also work with couples who feel more like roommates than partners and want to rebuild emotional connection, communication, and trust. My work is affirming of Neurodivergent, LGBTQIA+, kink, and polyamorous individuals and relationships. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling burned out from constantly "holding it together" for everyone else. Therapy can be a space where you no longer have to mask, overperform, or carry everything alone. I currently accept Aetna, UnitedHealthcare, Optum, and Oscar insurance plans. I am in the process of credentialing with other insurance plans and I welcome you to reach out here to see if your insurance is one I plan on credentialing with. Private pay sessions are $180. I offer telehealth sessions throughout Texas.

What should a new client know about working with you?

New clients often tell me they appreciate that therapy with me feels genuine, collaborative, and nonjudgmental. I strive to create a space where you can show up as you are without feeling pressured to have the "right" words, emotions, or answers. My approach is trauma-informed and relational, meaning I look at the bigger picture rather than just symptoms. Together, we explore how your past experiences, nervous system responses, relationships, identity, and daily stressors may be impacting your present life. I integrate somatic approaches, parts work, attachment-based therapy, and practical coping tools to help clients better understand themselves while also creating meaningful change. I work well with clients who feel emotionally overwhelmed, anxious, disconnected from themselves, burned out, perfectionistic, or stuck in survival mode for a long time. I also specialize in chronic illness, PCOS-related mental health concerns, relationships struggles, and identity or life transitions. I believe therapy should feel human. There may be moments where we process deep emotions, challenge old patterns, practice new ways of relating to yourself, or even find humor and compassion in the middle of difficult experiences. My goal is not to "fix" you, but to help you feel more connected, empowered, understood, and supported in your life and relationships. I provide virtual therapy for adults and couples throughout Texas.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My approach to therapy is thoughtful, collaborative, and paced in a way that supports long-term change rather than quick temporary fixes. Whether I'm working with individuals or couples, I begin with an intake and assessment phase to better understand your history, current concerns, strengths, stressors, and nervous system patterns before moving into deeper therapeutic work. I believe building safety, trust, and emotional regulation first helps therapy feel more sustainable and effective over time. For individual therapy, I start with a semi-structured intake session, though assessment continues throughout our work together as I get to know you more fully. Treatment is tailored to your needs and may include talk therapy, nervous system regulation skills, mindfulness, parts work, somatic approaches, or creative interventions if those fit your personality and goals. For couples therapy, the process is more structured. The first four sessions focus on assessment and understanding the relationship system as a whole. Session one includes a joint intake, session two is a relationship history intake, sessions three and four are individual sessions with each partner, and session five is a review and treatment planning session where we identify patterns, goals, strengths, and areas of focus before beginning interventions together. This process also helps assess safety, communication patterns, and mental health factors that may be impacting the relationship. I strongly encourage feedback throughout therapy. If something doesn't feel helpful, I want clients to feel comfortable speaking openly about it. My goal is to help you find approaches that genuinely work for you rather than forcing a one-size-fits-all process.
